I’ve got a great MLM Tip today: Have you ever called a prospect back, and they were supposed to have watched the video, and they haven’t? Yep, me too and most everyone in network marketing if they’ve prospected…at all!

You might hear something like “Oh, I didn’t get around to it because this happened, or that happened.” ~~Whatever the excuse was. My first reaction when I was new was to say, “Oh, Okay, when can you watch it again?” You set another appointment, they flake, you set another and you keep going and keep going. It can turn into an endless chase and be very exhausting.  That’s not what you want to do.

MLM Tip Part 1: Book a Solid Appointment With Posture

According to Ray Higdon, this is what you need to say when someone has done that. When you ask “How soon can you watch?” and they give you a time, add a little posture to it. If they say, “I can watch at 3.” You say, “Listen, I’m really booked but I can do it at 3:20.” Set it around the time that they give you, but you want to give them the impression that you are busy. In reality, you are, every one of is with different things in their life. You could be booked with picking your kids up at school, you could be booked with making dinner for your family. It doesn’t matter what you’re booked with, you only have certain slots that you can put someone in, and you can determine what those are.

MLM Tip Part 2: What To Say When They Haven’t Watched

So you call them back and they say (shocker) “Oh I didn’t get to watch, I had to shave the cat (yes, I’m being funny).”  Your response should be:

“Hey, I totally understand, no problem, but I need to prioritize my time. I have a lot of other people who have watched the video, so I need to get back with them now, I hope you understand.  I’m really busy right now so maybe I’ll circle back to you in a couple weeks.”

You responding in this way may get them to lean back in and say, “Oh, no, I can watch it tonight.” Your response after that should have the right energy and posture and sound something like this:

“Well, are you sure?  I run a business here and I know that you take your time seriously, so do I. I don’t want to waste your time, and I don’t want to waste mine. Are you really, for sure, for sure, going to be able to watch it this time?”

Set another time, follow up with them at that time, repeat the process, if you have to. If they don’t lean in and want to re-commit to watching, you should responds with:

“Wonderful, I’ll check back in a couple of weeks.”

MLM Tip Part 3: What To Say in Two Weeks

The best thing to say when you call back is to give them an update. Most people will call and say, “Hey, are you ready to watch the video again?” But this is the wrong posture and is more like a “sales” approach, as if YOU need THEM. Instead, give them an update, maybe your company may have just come out with something new or you reached a new promotion level. A really great update is when you may have had someone join your company that’s in the same profession as theirs.  Leave a really quick message saying:”Hey, I don’t have but a couple of minutes, I’m running into a meeting and I wanted to let you know that the realtor in our networking group just joined our team and they are stoked about what we’re going to create together. Got to go, bye!” That may get people to call you back, because they’re curious.  People want to be a part of something that’s going on and they don’t like being left out or left behind. When you update them with someone in their same profession that is joining your business, you are giving them very powerful social proof that your business works. This also keeps you in a great posture.
