Is it Possible to Live a Balanced Life While You Build Your Business?

I want to talk about something that may ruffle a few feathers…

How is your quality of life as you’re building your network marketing business?

Are you leading a balanced life?

I have been privileged to work with some amazing mentors in my time in network marketing who have taught me how to have a balanced life while building my business.

One of the first ones was Dani Johnson, who taught me early on that you don’t have to sacrifice your family, and your health, and everything else to build this business.

There are some people that say you do though…

They say “just run for a couple of years and then you can take the rest of your life off.”

Or

“You can take care of your body when you’re making a million dollars, don’t worry about it now, just work!”

“You can go to your kids event’s AFTER you have time freedom”

Well, that’s kind of tough and it’s unduplicable when you’ve have families, jobs, etc.

How can the normal person you are trying to recruit do that?  Well, they can’t and maybe that’s why you’re not recruiting as many.

Also, I talk to a lot of people who are hearing from leaders that you’re supposed to be at every meeting in their area.

They’re supposed to show up whether you have a guest or not, 2, 3, 4 nights a week.

I can’t stand it when I hear on a call, some leader bragging how he or she has driven 6 ours on one night, 7 hours on another night to go to a meeting to help their team.

Are you kidding me?

They’re coming to me saying, “How am I supposed to do this? I have a husband, I have kids, or grandkids?”

They don’t want to sacrifice their life to build this thing. This was supposed to be part time anyway right?

So how do you do this?

To Live a More Balanced Life You Must Learn To Say No

It’s okay to let people know that there are certain times that you may not be available. Get a calendar, maybe it’s electronic, but you want to block off time and ask yourself “When am I going to be building my business?”

It’s true, you can be out and about and talk about it anywhere, anytime.  But then you may need to have some concentrated time blocked off on your schedule that you intend to work your business. That’s your business time and let your family know, just for these couple of hours, they’re on their own (unless there’s an emergency of course).

If you’re a mom and you’ve got kids you may wake up at 5, 5:30 or 6 and you have to take the kids to school, make the lunches, run around and do errands, then the only time you’ve got to concentrate on your business may be at 9:00 at night, when you put the kids to bed.

So make that your work time, when your team can get a hold of you. Let people know that the time that you’re available is from ____ to _____ or ____ to _____time during the day.

Whatever it is, block it off in your calendar, turn Facebook off, your phone ringer on silent, email notifications off and FOCUS on REVENUE PRODUCING activities for a short period of time.  You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish when it’s concentrated time!

Added Benefit – Create More Posture with Prospects

This really works well if you’re booking people into appointments. It’s a posture that you can have with your prospects, showing that you’re busy and not just waiting around for their call, or available anytime to talk.

When you say, “How soon can you watch the video?” They say, “Tomorrow.”

Instead of you saying “Call me anytime”, it’s better to say “Well, I’ve got this and this available.”

You’re really not available all day long, every day are you?  No matter what the “appointment” is in your calendar, you’re booked.  It could be your workout time, running the kids to school, or even just your morning routine of reading and meditation.  It doesn’t matter, you’re booked either way.

You’re not available 24/7. That will lead to burnout every single time.

Learn to Create Leverage to Live a Balanced Life

Yes, it is 2015 and the internet is thriving. It’s a great place to reach out and find new prospects for your business.  That doesn’t mean that you never talk to a prospect. What it DOES mean is that you start the connection there.

Never DO business over social media. You meet someone there, then you get them on the phone for an actual conversation, voice to voice.

You can build a team that way, by reaching out to people in your local area over social media. Then you can meet up at a coffee shop after you’ve seen if it’s a fit over a video, so you don’t waste each other’s time.
